Smith’s Chapel
Smith’s Chapel School was a one-room schoolhouse for African-American students located in the Union Hall district of Franklin County. The school was first built as a log cabin on a stone foundation. The building did not have electricity, running water, or indoor restrooms, and it was heated with a stove. Fanny Trigg was a teacher at the school. The school was no longer in use by the late 1930s.
