Mountain School
Mountain School was a one-room schoolhouse for white students in the Snow Creek community of Franklin County. Marshall Wingfield attended Mountain School as a young boy in the early 1900s, and he later wrote an extensive description of his experiences at the school. His teachers were Miss Nannie Mitchell, Miss Elizabeth Brodie, Mrs. Eliza Pearson, and Bluford Cooper. His dad had gone to the same school a generation earlier when the teachers were Dow Brock and Mordecai Cook.
