Helms School / Beech Spring School

Helms School (also known as Beech Spring School) was a one-room schoolhouse for white students near the Henry community in southern Franklin County. It was built with a stone foundation, and it was heated with a stove. It did not have electricity, running water, or indoor restrooms. In 1937, an insurance agent remarked that the building was already “quite old” at that time.
