Glade Hill School
Glade Hill High School was a four-room schoolhouse for white students located in the Union Hall district of Franklin County. The school opened in 1935, and additional classrooms were added soon thereafter. It was built on a concrete foundation, and it did not have electricity, running water, or indoor restrooms. E. M. Terry, Ms. E. M. Terry, Mary Berger, Juanita Poindexter, W. E. Bennett, Belle Sutherland, Mildred Motley, and Angie Stone were some of the teachers at the school.
In 1982, alumni from Glade Hill High School published a commemorative yearbook, covering the years from 1937 to 1951. The Library of Virginia has a digitized copy of this yearbook, which you can read at the following link: https://archive.org/details/historyofgladehi1939glad/mode/2up
