Boones Mill High School

Boone’s Mill High School was a secondary school for white students in the Boone district of Franklin County. It offered classes from 1st grade to 11th grade. It was built on a concrete foundation, and it contained at least 9 rooms, according to one insurance report. Unlike most other schools in Franklin County, Boones Mill High School featured electricity and indoor plumbing. Alfred Prillaman, Maurice Bowman, Elizabeth Short, Ruth Hart, Anne Hopkins, Annie Leffue, Hawsie Sink, Frances Bernard, Hazel Tyler, Vivian Martin, Sylvia McNeil, Ella Cooper, and Irma Nicholson all served as teachers at the school.
